Jellyfish puts diver in Hospital

A 22 year old, female American scuba diver has been taken to hospital following being stung on the face whilst diving near Hamilton Island in North Queensland Australia. She was taken to Mackay Hospital and is reported to be in a stable condition.

The jellyfish is believed to be the "Irukandji" a small thumb size creature, that can cause intense pain, anxierty and a rapid rise in blood pressure to dangerous levels.

Last summer two foreign tourists died and more than 120 people required hospitalization after being stung by the small jellyfish
