As part of its new initiative to encourage more women to take up diving, PADI has announced a global “Women’s Dive Day” scheduled for July 18, 2015.

On that day, PADI is inviting female divers at whatever level to dive together. To do so, PADI is working with women dive groups, female industry icons, and dive centers and resorts worldwide to host events on nearly every continent.

More than 225 events in 46 countries have been scheduled so far, including the Bahamas, the USA, Indonesia and Italy, according to PADI.

Kristin Valette, PADI Americas vice president of marketing and communications, said:

“While the female diver population is growing, we feel there’s still a lot we can do to enlighten women about the myriad of opportunities diving affords. Our goal with PADI Women’s Dive Day is to highlight the significant and meaningful contributions female divers have made to the sport and encourage more women to explore the underwater world.”
