Pulau Sipadan finds divers returning

“Business is thriving again in Pulau Sipadan, with tourist bookings growing by the day, almost a year after Abu Sayyaf gunmen kidnapped 21 tourists and resort workers.

“”Divers from the United States and Europe are making bookings with resort operators in Sipadan,” state Tourism Development, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Datuk Chong Kah Kiat said yesterday.

He said the Sabah Tourism Promotion Corporation had effectively countered the adverse publicity on Sipadan during a trip to the United States last month to meet key players in the diving industry.
