The Wayne Hasson Legacy Scholarship has been announced by the Sea of Change Foundation in partnership with the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.
The new scholarship is in memory of Captain Wayne Hasson (1950 – 2020). The late captain had an illustrious carer in the diving industry, launching the first Cayman Aggressor and serving as president of Aggressor Adventures. He also served on the board of directors for the Oceans for Youth and Sea of Change foundations.
Commenting on the scholarship, Sea of Change Foundation board member and Hasson’s widow Anne said:
“What a perfect way to honor Wayne’s memory. His dedication to and passion for educating youth about the marine environment will continue through this wonderful scholarship. And we are so grateful to everyone who donated to make the scholarship possible; thank you!”
Foundation Executive Director Samantha Whitcraft added:
“We are grateful for the scholarship match from FPCF, and we are looking forward to finding a worthy student for this full academic scholarship here in Florida. We encourage applications from students who meet the criteria and want to devote their careers to ocean conservation.”
