Watch made from Titanic remains

Swiss watchmaker RomainJerome has launched a Titanic-DNA watch which has a retail price of anywherebetween £4,400 and £70,000 depending on the consumer’s choice of metals.

The reason for high pricefetched by this watch that is made with steel from the remains of the wreck ofthe Titanic, which sank in 1912. Harland & Wolff shipyards in Belfast, where theTitanic was built, have fused regular steel with steel recovered from the wreckto create a rust-effect metal from which the watch has been manufactured. Thehands are modelled on anchors and are a deep-black colour. Each watch containsa La Joux-Perret movement and in honour of the 100th anniversary of theTitanic’s sinking, only 2,012 of the timepieces are being produced. If you canafford it, you can request that more precious metals are used in the design.
