A New USA Record for Erin Magee at Deja Blue II

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands — On the very first day of PFI’s annual competition a new national record for constant ballast has been established; the current women’s record holder Erin Magee completed a text book dive to 72 meters in 2 minutes and 20 seconds — improving upon the record she set last year when she broke Tanya Streeter’s longstanding record with a 71 meter dive in the same discipline.

Magee was recently profiled in ESPN W and the 26 yr old freediving instructor  is sponsored by Mercy Hospital’s Hyperbaric Unit in Miami, Sea Experience of Fort Lauderdale, Austin’s Diving Center, and Lauderdale Diver. Wearing only four pounds, a new purple Oceaner suit, fluid goggles and her Waterway Glide monofin, Erin made the dive look easy.

“My dive went really well – I felt very comfortable the entire time, and each step fell exactly into sequential place. I am very hopeful that today’s dive will serve as a launching pad for my upcoming performances” said Magee.
