AIDA Mini Comp Kalamata Results – Day One

In preparation of the main event, the organizers in Greece are running mini comp over a few of the training days. On September 9th new national records (NR) were set by Lisa Yakubuk of Israel in constant weight = CWT 40m, Eran Gilead of Israel in constant no-fins = CNF 61m, and Hyomin (Elliot) Kim of Korea in constant weight = CWT 77m.

On his CWT attempt of 100m Mike Board of Great Britain suffered an ear injury — which may prove to be even more unfortunate as it may keep him on the sidelines of the main event.  “What happened was that I perforated my ear drum at the bottom and  as I started to swim up I got bad vertigo and the rope started to spin so that I did not know which way was up or down and started swimming back down for a moment. This made me grab the rope and then I started to pull up fast which then caused a squeeze.”  The current national record holder in CWT who sucessfully executed a dive to 98 meters the day before, Board further demonstrated his jovial spirit and good sportsmanship as he teased afterwards  “other than that the dive was fine!”

Stay tuned for results of Day Two of the mini comp to come tomorrow.
