Italian Freediver Alessia Zecchini has done it again, setting a new women’s world record in the Free Immersion (FIM) discipline with a 100-meter (328-foot) dive at OceanQuest Curacao this past weekend.
Zecchini’s dive lasted four minutes, 15-seconds under CMAS rules, besting the record she set earlier that weekend, with a 98-meter dive in four minutes.
This past weekend saw Zecchini surpass the 97-meter record of the late and great Sayuri Kinoshita of Japan.
On her 98-meter dive, Zecchini dedicated it to Kinoshita:
“I want to dedicate my dive to her. An amazing person, so lovely soul and the strongest competitor in depth. I miss you very much but you are always in our hearts.”
Zecchini will now go through WADA Anti-Doping tests to allow the record to be made official.
