Veteran dive trainer Paul Toomer has rejoined PADI as the dive training agency’s new Global Tec Diving Consultant.
According to a PADI Facebook post:
“A PADI Course Director since 2001 and one of the industry’s most respected technical diving instructor trainers, Paul brings decades of experience, leadership, and passion for diver education. As we continue to grow our technical diving programs and deepen our commitment to the dive industry, Paul’s expertise will help shape the future of tec diver training and exploration worldwide.”
While Toomer himself said:
“Anyone who knows me knows how much I love life, and also how lucky I have been in my career as a diving professional. I have had successful dive centers, amazing mentors, and I have been lucky enough to work for two amazing agencies, one of which I co-owned. It’s been an amazing ride, and I have been surrounded by the best, and kindest, wonderful people.
“I began my career at PADI, and it seems so serendipitous that I am now right back to where I started.
“I cannot wait to start working with the amazing team at PADI delivering state of the art technical materials for open and closed circuit, overhead and beyond.
Prior to rejoining PADI, Toomer worked at RAID International from 2014 to 2025 and prior to that was Scuba Schools International’s International Director of Technical Training.
Regarding his return to PADI, Toomer said:
“While this opportunity is perfect for me, I would also like to thank all the agencies that spoke to me about joining them – I have been overwhelmed with kindness. And I will always cherish the memories I have of the great people across the entire planet that I have had the opportunity to work with. You all know who you are and how special you will always be to me.”
