Mark Harris fights all odds to break UK records

Once know as Britain’s deepest male freediver, Mark Harris, fondly known as the Blue Lightning, succeeded in breaking the Mens UK Free Immersion record in Dahab this weekend.

As reported by the Australian favourite contestant, dehydration and cold conditions affected first attempts. During the second attempt Mark’s noseclip was knocked off at an early depth but he was unphased as he completed 64 metres with ease, beating the 61 metre record which was held by Marcus Greatwood, won in October 2007. Mark also achieved 80 metres in the Variable Weight category which supercedes Paul Whincup’s record of 61 metres won in June 2005. (source: www.britishfreediving.org)

Earlier this year Sara Campbell from the UK broke three world records in succession. UK freedivers have worked hard to keep UK freediving truly pinned on the world diving map.
