OMNA Marine Tourniquet

Billed as the “First and Only Marine Tourniquet”, the OMNA Marine Tourniquet is a unique piece of gear that should find itself into every diver or surfer’s gear bag. DeeperBlue.com spoke with Carson Henderson, the CEO, and Founder of OMNA about the Marine Tourniquet.

The OMNA tourniquet is wearable as a bracelet/anklet or surfboard leash.

“The OMNA tourniquet is made for saltwater, corrosion-resistant, and wearable in the form of a bracelet/anklet. It also offers an optional surfboard leash.” Carson Henderson

The ratchet equipped, 100% marine grade, self-locking, durable tourniquet looks, at first glance, like any Velcro ankle or wrist band attached to a lanyard. Closer examination shows that it is a highly functional life-saving piece of equipment designed to safely and effectively stop major bleeding in an extremity.

Carson explained how he was inspired to create the OMNA Marine Tourniquet from his first aid training as a Force Recon Marine. The need for an on-hand, highly effective and rugged tourniquet as a primary component in any marine first-aid kit was evident. Surfers are prone to many types of cut-injuries from the fins of their boards, coral, underwater objects and marine-life encounters. Boaters and divers, water-skiers and snorkelers are all at risk of severe bleeding injuries, especially around boat propellers.

“Maritime professionals operating in marine environments require marine tourniquets. Tourniquets when properly applied prior to the onset of shock have a lifesaving success rate of > 90%.”

Water-proof, UV and abrasion-resistant, the OMNA Marine Tourniquet is a compact and functional package that serves as a great water-sport lanyard that is with you until needed. Whether clipping into a boogie-board, surfboard, SUP, freediving down-line or just wearing the tourniquet on your wrist or ankle while out on the water, the OMNA can be deployed in an instant.

The OMNA Marine Tourniquet can be worn alone or with a leash/lanyard from 5’ (1.5m) to 12’ (3.6m) in length and with a coiled or straight coated cable. Keeping in the spirit of the acronym OMNA (One Man National Asset), putting an effective, powerful first aid tool in reach of any watersport enthusiast regardless of where they are making the OMNA a real asset for anyone!

One swift tug brings out the hidden extension, creating a 2” wide, ratchet-equipped, tourniquet that can be immediately deployed and is wide enough to prevent soft-tissue damage while being easy enough that anyone can use it if needed. The Mini Tourniquet Leash is 32” (81cm) in length and is designed for people under 130lbs, while the Tourniquet Leash is 38” (96.5cm) long.

OMNA Marine Tourniquet starts at $38.99 USD and can be ordered at www.omnainc.com
