Day 1 of the first annual 321FREEDIVE Conference in Cocoa Beach, Florida saw a plethora of speakers discussing various aspects of not just freediving but technical diving as well.
Space Coast Freedivers Founder Jennifer Morgan, who created the conference, introduced each speaker. The organization’s mission is to bring “Freediving Excellence in Education” to the mainstream by providing events, scholarships and support to those that may not otherwise have the accessiblity.

Tunisian Walid Boudhiaf, who last August set a men’s continental record in the Constant Weight with Bifins discipline, talked about setting and achieving freediving goals.

Francesca Koe, DeeperBlue.com’s editor at large, talked about her work both in kelp restoration as well as being a competitive freediving judge.

Dr. Antonio Paris talked about his work using scuba diving for scientific research, specifically looking at what appeared to be a meteor impact crater in the waters off Miami, Florida.

Scott Flory talked about being a safety freediver during competitions and the equipment he uses to keep athletes safe.

Woody Alpern discusssed how to plan for technical dives, including cave diving and all the specific equipment he uses as well as prepping for such a dive.

Tanner Pederson talked about how to prepare during the countdown right before a competitive freedive and what to do during the 45-minute period before going underwater.
