Alfredo Romo Hernandez Sets New Freediving Record

Romo Hernandez swins into a new national Mexican title

Saturday August 4th saw the kick-off of the 2012 Los Angeles Apnea Challenge. Freedivers from all across the United States and Mexico descended upon the Culver City Plunge pool in California to test their limits in three freediving pool disciplines. Making his innaugural appearance at a pool competition, F.I.I. instructor Alfredo Romo Hernandez decided to make his first try a record-setting day by completing a clean dynamic no-fins dive of 101 meters. Alfredo’s swim took one minute and :58 seconds and lands him another Mexican national title.

“I have to confess that I am quite pleased with this new national record, especially since I’ve never competed in any pool events before”, offered Alfredo Romo. “I know I have much more in me and look forward to even bigger swims.” And we all look forward to seeing them.
