Have a hankering for hammerheads?
The Bimini Big Game Club Resort will be hosting dive encounters with hammerhead sharks during four specific weeks between December 2015 and March 2016.
Divers will get the chance to see, photograph and/or film the ocean’s second-largest predatory shark off Bimini near the Bahamas. In addition to Cocos Island off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, Bimini is the only other place where divers can get a close-up view of the hammerheads congregating.
Bimini is considered “shark diving central,” and boasts more species of sharks closer to the docks than anywhere else in the Bahamas. According to the Bimini Biological Field Station, the hammerhead joins 12 other species of sharks found in the shallow water off Bimini, among them the Lemon, Caribbean Reef, Tiger, Blacktip, Nurse, Bull, Blacknose, Atlantic/Caribbean Sharpnose, Mako, Spiny Dogfish, Bigeye Thresher and Smooth Hound sharks.
Bimini Big Game Divers will be running two daily hammerhead dives during the weeks of December 11-18, 2015 as well as January 1-8, February 5-12 and March 8-18, 2016.
