Eventcity in Manchester gains a beach, a rock pool and the world’s biggest portable swimming pool this weekend when the first Great Northern Dive Show is held there.
The event on Saturday and Sunday (April 23rd and 24th), features an aqua-theatre, diving clubs and diving equipment among myriad stands. Mermaids, showgirls and comic con characters are also among the attractions.
It is all the dream of Ruth Mort, Managing Director of H2O Divers, based in Hindley, Wigan. She started scuba diving six and half years ago in the Maldives; she also trains people with disabilities. “We are all just divers in the water,” she stated.
“Diving is a great sport for everyone, including youngsters. It’s also a thriving industry with the British Isles boasting some of the biggest diving manufacturers in the world.”
Among those exhibiting at the Great Northern Dive Show are dry and wetsuit manufacturer Otter Watersports from Bradford, and RAID – the world’s fastest growing training agency with regional offices in 21 countries supporting its stores and instructors.
James Rogers, Managing Director of RAID UK, said:
“This event will get more people committed to the sport of diving and loving it for years to come.”
