The World Ocean Observatory has announced that Dr. Wendy Watson-Wright will be joining its board of trustees.
Watson-Wright recently retired as the first CEO of the Ocean Frontier Institute (OFI) and has held a host of prestigious posts during her career, highlights of which include:
- A Kellam Scholar with a PhD. in Physiology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- Executive Secretary and Assistant Director-General of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC-UNESCO) from 2010 to 2015.
- Assistant Deputy Minister of Science with Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
Dr. Watson-Wright spent most of her career at Fisheries and Oceans Canada, where she held various positions and is currently a member of the UN Joint Group of Experts on the Scientific Aspects of Marine Environmental Protection (GESAMP). She also serves as a member of various panels and boards.
