First Nemo’s Garden Installation In The US Announced

-

OCEAN REEF and Ohio Base Gilboa Quarry have announced a plan to bring the first Nemo’s Garden installation to the United States.

The biosphere installation is set to be established at the quarry this summer and will be a foundation stone for sustainable marine agriculture in the US.

The revolutionary Nemo’s Garden concept was developed by OCEAN REEF, aiming to grow crops underwater by exploiting the ocean’s properties. The project aims to reduce farming’s ecological footprint, address food insecurity worldwide and push the boundaries of sustainable farming.

Commenting on the new project, Luca Gamberini, the VP of OceanReefGroup, stated:

“OCEAN REEF is thrilled to partner with Gilboa Quarry to bring Nemo’s Garden to the United States. This project showcases the potential of sustainable agriculture and underscores our commitment to exploring innovative solutions for the challenges facing our planet. We look forward to witnessing the positive impact this endeavor will have on food production, environmental conservation, and scientific research.”

While Gilboa Quarry partner Lyle Deitch added:

“We are excited to collaborate with OceanReefGroup – OCEAN REEF on this pioneering venture. Nemo’s Garden represents a significant leap forward in sustainable farming practices, and we are proud to contribute our expertise in creating and maintaining an optimal underwater environment for this project through this first, incredible, testing ground in Ohio. We know our divers will love it and might also contribute with knowledgeable feedback to help progress in the research and future applications. Gilboa can be the start of a dedicated hub for this technology in the future, engaging divers and water enthusiasts, students, educators and the business community.”
