IMAX Film Oceanmen – Extreme Dive finally available as Blu-Ray

-

The 2001 IMAX Documentary Film Oceanmen – Extreme Dive is finally coming to a (smaller) screen near you.  After a 12 year wait we’ve heard word directly from Oceanmen director Bob Talbot that the Blu-Ray version will be available from August 13, 2013 via oceanmenbluray.com.

Exquisitely shot for the giant screen on 70mm film, this award winning film poetically tells the stories of world champion free-divers Umberto Pelizzari and Pipin Ferreras as they attempt to dive deeper than anyone had ever dared…over 500 feet…on a single breath of air.  While both divers share a deep affinity for the sea and freediving, their different personalities and opposing diving philosophies turned a once close friendship into a bitter rivalry.

Their personal journeys were filmed in six countries. Stunning aerials and groundbreaking large format underwater photography transport us from the bustle of Miami to the remote serenity of Sardinia…from the coral caverns of the Caribbean to the inky darkness of the deep sea.

“I was fortunate to work on this film with some dear friends who share a common passion for the sea.” says Director and Director of Photography Bob Talbot.
“With each day of production Oceanmen became much more to us than just a freediving film. It became a way for us to share our love for the sea through the stories of Umberto and Pipin.”

Talbot, who personally color-corrected each scene during the transfer to high definition from 70mm film added, “I’m thrilled that the film is finally being released on Blu-ray so that it can be shared with a whole new audience.”

Blu-rays signed by Bob Talbot will be available for $19.95 from August 13, 2013 only at oceanmenbluray.com.
