Sig Severinsen Disappointed in Venezuela

Venezuela, October 29, 2004– Stig Severinsen’s third and final attempt at 67 meters Constant No Fins was unsuccesful due to a blackout at approx.15 meters from the surface.

The athlete started the dive at approximately 11:02 am and hit the plate on schedule but his ascent was slower than planned. Safety diver Carlos Coste took hold of him by the arm at approximately 15 meters and brought him to the surface, where other safety divers brought him around after approximately 30 seconds.

Although the recovery was immediate blood coughed up during the few minutes afterward indicates that trauma did occur to the lungs or tracheal area.
