Enchante Gallardo, holder of a women’s AIDA continental Free Immersion depth record, kicked off the day with a talk about the Constant Weight with Bifins and her techniques she uses on competition day.
Immersion Freediving’s Ted Harty talked about how to create a culture of safety in freediving and the things he does to teach people about the importance of not diving alone.
Dr. Bizo Silva covered pulmonary barotrauma, what happens when the lungs are injured and the risk factors related to it. He also discussed the long-term factors involved with pulmonary barotrauma.
DeeperBlue.com founder Stephan Whelan talked about using digital media and marketing to help one’s diving career, covering the various online resources people can access to learn more about the sport.
Sean Oakley from Calibre Biometrics talked about his company’s new breathing measurement device and app and how it can be used for freedive training as well as measuring respiratory metrics at home.
Robert King, a former US national freediving record holder and AIDA International president, covered a case study of a recent freediving training accident and the lessons that were learned from it.
Dr. Joe Dituri discussed hyperbaric medicine and decompression sickness. HE also talked about the new tiered system for evaluating DCS as well as his participation in the upcoming NEPTUNE 100 Days Undersea Mission.
Jerry Guerra from Neptonics ended the day with a talk about spearfishing safety and equipment. He also went over several tips spearos can use to get better results.
