The finals of the AIDA 2016 Freediving World Pool Championships in Turku, Finland continued on Saturday with the Dynamic No-Fins (DNF) Final.

A truly amazing day for Freediving – every single athlete competing came up cleanly and scored maximum points for clean surfacing protocol (and the white card everyone dreams of). Virtually every competitor also had personal bests with no less than two World Records and 8 National Records!
Poland is firmly top of the podium with outstanding efforts being rewarded with World Records and Gold Medals – Magdalena Solich with a 185m / 607ft swim for the Women and Mateusz Malina with an epic 244m / 800ft swim for the men. Malina’s record was a reset of his previous record he smashed only days prior during the qualifiers.
Podium places were also there with Silver for Alice Hickson (Great Britain) and Pierre Crubille (France), and Bronze for Julia Kozerska (Poland) and Mikko Pontinen (Finland).
Competition organizer Mikko Anttonen told DeeperBlue.com:
“What a day at the AIDA Worlds 2016. The Polish athletes are on fire and today we saw two new world records 8 national records. After a week of training everything was running smoothly at the pool. The members of the organization have found their place and they know their tasks. We were all very excited about the amazing performances by all athletes and we are happy that we have been able to provide them conditions to break their personal bests, national records and world records.”
