If traveling to and diving the waters off the Maldives is one of the items on your bucket list, looks like you’ll even be able to learn to freedive there now as well.
Aquafanatics Dive Centre is now offering freediving lessons along with its traditional scuba instruction, all under the PADI banner. It’s available to folks staying at Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, Anantara Veli Maldives Resort and Naladhu Maldives.
When you get there, look up freediving instructor Mari Kagaya, who runs the course. She says:
“The Maldives provide the pinnacle in free diving adventure. Escaping the trappings of scuba gear, our encounters with sea life are graceful, natural and deeply personal. Guests discover their own hidden depths, not only of their body, but also the mind.”
A native of Japan, Kagaya has been a dive instructor since 2002, according to Breaking Travel News.
