Belgian Freediver Patrick Musimu announces his comeback to freediving and world record attempts together with Brazilian Freediver Karol Meyer, who have jointly announced a No-Limits Tandem World Record attempt for May 2010, to -140 metres.
Sponsored by Buddy Dive of Bonaire, where the attempt will be held, Musimu and Meyer will stage the Tandem No-Limit which is a unique category of freediving created by the International Freediving Association under the supervision of Francisco (Pipin) Ferreras.
The IAFD supported this category as a way to improve safety in the increasing competitiveness of the No-Limits category by having a more experienced athlete descend with a less experienced one.Musimu describes Tandem No-Limit Freediving as a “a symbol of adventurous and winning team spirit”.Musimu has also announced 2 more World Record attempts. He has stated that he will dive to -240 metres on a No-Limits dive, and also will perform a -150 metre Skandalopetra dive. Skandalopetra is the ancient form of freediving used by the Greeks when diving for sponges.Patrick Musimu is to spend time in the the Middle East next June, where he will be involved in the production of a very interesting movie titled “Waving at my Ancestors”.
