STEMA KIDS Unveiled at DEMA Show 2019

When the dive industry is at it’s very best, we create ways to lower barriers to appreciating and learning about the magnificent marine world we know and love.

This entails engaging the next generation in meaningful ways that impact on their learning, cognitive growth and enriching their understanding of the environment, conservation and stewardship while promoting core education principles is a lofty achievement.

STEMA Kids is just such a program: a curriculum-driven approach to enhancing cognitive growth and educational opportunities for kids . . . and it’s a whole lot of fun!

Most of us have heard of STEM programs; curriculum that promotes learning in the core skills of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The “A” in STEMA is for Arts and A.I. (Artificial Intelligence), which, according to the creator of the program Phillip Ko, rounds out the curriculum.

The STEMA Kids marine conservation learning toy set sends players on 16 different missions. Each mission includes a story which educates players about STEM learning and marine conservation or awareness. The toys introduce children to advanced STEM disciplines by incorporating AI, mathematics, engineering, science and art, combining several subject areas into one integrated experience.

Unlike traditional board games, with the STEMA Kids learning kits players guide heroes (characters) through missions of marine awareness and conservation. The characters in the STEMA Kids toy set specialize in either science, technology, engineering, mathematics or art/AI.

Famed educator Howard Gardner described the different Multiple Intelligences (learning types) in his seminal book “Frames Of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences” in 1983. In this book, Gardner describes activities such as dancing and performing surgeries as requiring great kinesthetic intelligence: using the body to create (or do) something. Additionally, the other sic types include Visual-Spatial, Musical, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Linguistic and Logical-Mathematical.

The STEMA Kids learning tools engage the student in multiple ways, allowing for greater engagement and retention.

These kits are available for school districts, home schoolers and educators immediately. The first kit in the program is Marine Awareness and Conservation, with many more planned for release soon.

The STEMA Kids Marine Awareness and Conservation STEMA Toy Set is a fun and educational series of 16 projects and stories that allow kids to learn about marine Awareness and Conservation issues, all while incorporating STEAM learning. A STEAM education allows for students and teachers to combine several subject areas into one integrative lesson. It helps students to solve real-life problems.

It is available for $34.98 (30 Euros). For more information and to purchase your own STEMA Kids kit, go to stemakids.com.
