Oceanographic Magazine is now accepting submissions for the 2021 Ocean Photography Awards.
According to the magazine:
“The Ocean Photography Awards have a simple mission: to shine a light on the beauty of the ocean and the threats it faces, all while raising money for its protection.”
This year’s submissions will once again be judged by a panel of prominent ocean photographers, including Paul Nicklen, Cristina Mittermeier, Shawn Heinrichs, Andy Mann, John Weller, Ami Vitale and Andre Musgrove.
Six categories will be judged, with the winner of each category awarded a selection of prizes. Several opportunities are also on offer, including a one-year residency with the SeaLegacy Collective. The prizes are valued at more than £500,000/~US$705,428/€581,475.
Additional prizes will be announced throughout the summer.
There will also be a special award announced this year — with more information on this scheduled for release in the coming weeks.
Shutterbugs have until July 31st, 2021 to submit their entries.
Winners, including the overall winner – the Ocean Photographer of the Year 2021 – will be announced in September, with an exhibition in London to follow, where all winning images will be put on public display. The exhibition will be free to visit.
