UQ Art Museum hosts new aquatic exhibition

A collection of photographs taken underwater in pools, lakes and waterways stretching from Brisbane to Fraser Island, opens atThe University of Queensland Art Museum on March 6. The exhibition, called Water Line, is by photographer Craig Holmes, who has published an photograph of Jodie Meares – before she became the first Mrs James Packer andswimsuit designer Jodhi Meares – performing an underwater high jump.

Mr. Holmes explains how he had to improve his freediving techniques over many years. His ability to hold his breath underwater for longperiods helped him capture mesmerising images of swimming squads hardat work in Musgrave Park Pool in South Brisbane, as well as kidscutting loose when they were allowed “free swim” time.
