PADI To Launch Updated Advanced Open Water Diver Certification

If you’ve gotten your PADI Open Water Diver certification and don’t want to stop there, the next step in your dive education may be a bit different come September.

PADI will be launching an updated Advanced Open Water Diver program next month with what the organization calls “significant” changes:

“Think of it as a shiny new car, but one that’s the same model as your old familiar vehicle.”

PADI had three goals driving the update: New content reflecting changes in dive techniques and equipment; modernized teaching tools including a digital app; and a new “Thinking Like a Diver” section that gives divers better ways of understanding their dives and mitigating risks.
