Turkish Freediver's Mask sells for $5500 at celebrity auction

At a recent celebrity auction held in Turkey, a mask worn by Freediver Yasemin Dalkilich sold in a hotly contested bidding process for $5500.

According to her Trainer, Rudi Casteneyra, not only was Yasemin’s mask the highest earning item but also the one most hotly contested, with double the number of bids compared to other items up for bid at the auction.

The auction was arranged where Turkish celebrities donated personal items for auction. The money raised is being used to help 150 families that lost their homes during the earthquakes that have affected the country in the last couple of years.

"I think that it is great to see that, at least in some places, freediving is starting to be seen as a sport at the same level with all others and its athletes among the top sport personalities instead of daredevil maniacs." said Casteneyra. "Hopefully this trend will continue all around the world."
