2018 marks an incredible milestone for William Trubridge and Deans Blue Hole on Long Island, in the Bahamas. His world-renowned annual freediving competition is celebrating its 10th Anniversary and it looks like it is going to be quite the spectacle. 46 contenders from 23 different nations will attempt to achieve their own personal goals while pushing the limits of the human physiology & spirit as far as they can go in the depth disciplines of freediving.

“It is both humbling and overwhelming to realize the 10th anniversary of a freediving competition that was once just an idea in my mind’s eye,” said Trubridge an 18x world record holder. “I am thrilled that OriginECN has joined us in partnership on this decade’s long-in-the-making celebration of the adventure of competitive freediving. OriginECN Vertical Blue 2018 promises to be an unparalleled event in terms of excitement and the athletic abilities of its participants. And a historic event as we will be broadcasting through a live feed of a fully integrated underwater drone. Since we have competitors from around the globe, it will be fantastic to be able to share the competition, live as it is happening on the web with technology from Diveye.”

Over the course of the last ten years, Vertical Blue has not only helped launch the sport of freediving, but it has also set the bar for professionalism in its production, the safety & medical crew it garners and the media opportunities it shares to expose an otherwise relatively unknown sport to an ever-growing fan base.

“At this tenth anniversary of Vertical Blue event, OriginECN decided to be the named sponsor of such a world-class event because it is the perfect partnership for us,” said OriginECN’s CEO Jack Law. “On the one hand, we hope that the various record-holders will not forget their ‘origin’ and keep moving themselves and the sport forward. On the other hand, we also hope to cultivate the spirit of strength & tenacity this sport manifests to our traders. OriginECN’s trading philosophy is well suited to the freediving competitors and to our traders: “Reach Beyond Yourself, Break Through Limits, Create Endless Potential with Vitality“. Here, OriginECN is also making a contribution by sharing the story and message of the freediving athletic competition, so that it can be more widely known and appreciated across the globe.”

Stay tuned as OriginECN Vertical Blue 2018 will begin on Monday, July 16th and run through Thursday, July 26th and spectators can be sure that fireworks will fly as numerous World Records attempts are anticipated from the intrepid men and women who will be competing for top honors.
