Vertical Blue, the annual competition hosted by William Trubridge at Deans Blue Hole in the Bahamas, has opened up the final few places for public athlete registration. The 2016 version of the event will run April 22 – May 2 2016.
The event, strictly limited to 42 athletes, typically invites the Top 10 worldwide Freedivers and previous entrants before opening up to the wider competitive Freediving community.
The entry fee for the “Wimbledon of Freediving” will be $855 USD, for participation in 6 of the 9 comp days. The prize pool will be a minimum of $10,000 cash, plus product prizes and medals.
Athletes interested in registering should send an email to events@verticalblue.net with the subject “Reserve” and you will be given instructions on how to confirm.
Trubridge also announced on Facebook that:
“We expect to introduce the most advanced live video monitoring system ever used in a freediving competition. This will revolutionize both safety and video media for freediving.”
