A new dive resort has opened on the idyllic Mergui Archipelago off the coast of Myanmar.
The Awei Pila Resort offers a variety of courses from Discover Scuba Diving to Dive Master. Courses and guided dives can be conducted in the following languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German or Italian.
The area around the resort features 12 different dive sites that range in depth from 12m/~37ft to 30m/100ft. Two of the island’s site are fast gaining fame for their outstanding beauty: Shark Cave and Rocky Island.
According to Marcelo Guimaraes, Dive Instructor and Awei Pila’s resident marine biologist:
“We go out in the morning for two dives, stop for lunch, then take one dive in the afternoon. We also have night dives upon demand, where you’ll see squid, lobsters, turtles and an array of open corals.”
He added:
“Divers can swim among schools of barracudas, yellow snappers and fusiliers, and will be able to get up close and personal with nudibranches, sea horses and scorpion fish. And at certain times of the year, we come across Manta rays and whale sharks.”
The dive center and resort features:
- Air-conditioned tented villas.
- Spa
- 24-hour service restaurant.
- 27ft/8m RIB with space for six divers and instructor.
- Brand new diving equipment including Aqualung regulators.
- Bauer Compressor.
An all-inclusive stay at the resort including three meals starts from US$750/~£577/~€675 per night.
