CMAS, one of the world’s largest diving federations, has decided to organize it’s first depth competition called the Apnea Outdoor World Championships. The competition will be a team based competition for both men and women.
The Apnea Outdoor World Championships will take place from the 4th to the 11th of October, on the Italian Island of Ischia. The Italian member organization FIPSAS has been chosen as the organizer of the event.
This is going to be the first depth competition CMAS has organized in recent history, preferring mainly to concentrate on pool disciplines and it’s unique Jump Blue competition style.
The Jump Blue is a discipline where the athlete must cover the maximum distance around a 15m square situated in a depth of 10m. The event takes place in open water (sea or lake) and the use of fins (bi-fins or monofin) is mandatory. The fins must be powered only by the muscular power of the athlete.
The depth disciplines that athletes will need to compete in will be:
- Constant weight apnea with bi-fins (CWT BP)
- Constant weight apnea with monofin (CWT)
- Constant weight apnea without fins (CNF)
- The Jump Blue (JB)
National teams will be allowed to submit teams of between 1 – 6 athletes per discipline in both Men and Women categories.
So far 9 nations have registered:
- Austria
- Croatia
- France
- Italy
- Sud Korea

Athletes and countries looking to compete should contact their national Federation with more information available on Facebook and the CMAS website.
