PADI has named the renowned “Shark Warrior” Lesley Rochat its latest Ambassadiver.

In an extensive interview with PADI.com, Rochat gave a glimpse of her history, and how her journey with diving and ocean conservation began, including her growing up on the Garden Route in South Africa, and spending a significant time of her childhood playing in the ocean.

Rochat explained she then became a freelance travel journalist, and how she often kept going back to the same destinations and was struck with their constant and continuous decline.

She went on to pinpoint what she views as the main threats faced by our oceans. Rochat highlighted weak governance, along with climate change and rising pollution as some of the gravest threats the ocean faces.
