Well the DeeperBlue.net private jet has made a detour back from Turkey and deposited yours truly out the back door as we flew over Cyprus. I’m here at the Golden Arches, the pinnacle of hospitality and the all you can eat buffet and have I got gossip for you…
There have been personal best’s and unofficial world records already and some staggering stats – if you chose to believe them that is… There are old faces, new ones and celebrities. We have Tanya Streeter in the lobby and Vanessa Feltz in the restaurant down the road. Just when you thought it couldn’t get anymore exciting- read this:
Carlos Coste, Herbert Nitsch and Martin Stepanek have all done 105 in training. Yes that’s right- 105 metres. Herbert and Martin have been training together and having ‘lots of fun’. So much fun that last night as they were doing static together Herbert had forgotten to subscribe his constant depth… He told Dieter Baumann to fill it in – ‘Just make sure the first number is a 1’ he yelled before submerging for another 8 minute static. As you do.
Well their secrets are still safe till tomorrow night and so now we focus on the dynamic competition. Longest subscriptions are 150 meters by Herbert, Carlos and Ant Williams from New Zealand and World Record holder Natalia Molchanova, Annabel Briseno and Megumi Matsumoto for the women at 130, 110 and 100 metres respectively. The shortest subscription is for 1 metre. Not bad seeing as it is being done by a six month old by the name of Freya Greatwood. Well, get them while they’re young and you’ve got them for life!
See you tomorrow for the results!
